Research interests

Research focuses on the formation, storage and retrieval of experiences as memories. We addresses three components of why we remember some of our experiences yet forget others. First, how the content of the memories themselves influences their memorability. However, oftentimes successful memory cannot be considered in isolation, but rather depends on a complex interaction with other memories. Thus, the role of relationships, or associations, between memories serves as the second component. The third component focuses on the role of context, defined as information surrounding, but not comprising, the memory itself. We develop computational cognitive models, as well as experiments and analyses, to characterize human behavior and supporting brain activity.
